DTH 2214 Romantic & Classical Traditions
This course will explore the development of the romantic Ballet of Western Europe through the ballets of Giselle and La Sylphide and the classical traditions of master choreographer Marius Petitpa through his ballets Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. The course will explore how the romantic ballet of Western Europe and the classical ballet of Russia reflect their time and place and how these esthetics have influenced the dance of today.
