French Studies Major Requirements
French Studies majors will take a total of nine courses (at least 27 credits) and write a 3- credit senior evaluation on a topic related to French language, literature, or culture for a total of 30 credits. Six of these courses must be taken in French. In addition to FRN 2001, Intermediate French I, FRN 2002, Intermediate French II, French Studies majors will take four other 2000 or 3000 level electives in French. At least two courses should be at the 3000 level. Three other classes can be taken in English provided they deal substantially with the French and the French-speaking world.
Senior Evaluation
Students register for a 3-credit Senior Evaluation in the fall of their senior year and write on a topic or theme related to French literature, 2 history, or culture. The French major can choose to write the senior evaluation in French or English.
Note: All course work counted toward the major and minor must be taken for a letter grade and must receive a grade of C- or better.
