German Studies Minor

German Studies Minor Requirements

Requirements

The German Studies minor requires the completion of six courses beyond the introductory level, at least four of which must carry the GER code. At least two of these must be German language courses, while two others may be cultural in nature – e.g., GER 3009 Politics/Art of German Cinema and GER 3060 Heimat: Germany’s Rise and Fall (both taught in English).

Two further courses may come from other departments, as long as they deal significantly with German culture or history, such as the following:

HIS 2023Twentieth Century Europe

3

HIS 3035The Third Reich

3

HOLC 3042Literature of the Holocaust

3

HOLC 3036The Holocaust in Film

3

GER 3009, GER 3060: taught in English

German Language and Culture courses taken at an approved summer or study abroad program can count toward the German minor.
