POS 5067 Power, Politics & Passion: Women in the 21st Century
This course will explore many of the cutting edge issues facing women towards century's end. As women face the new millennium, is it still possible to speak of women and politics, or does the evolving political agenda require an even more complex approach to coalition politics? How will issues such as reproductive rights, violence against women, emerging technological changes (pornography in cyberspace), work place issues, sexual harassment be formulated and addressed approaching the 21st century. Ethical issues raised by advancing technologies, especially in the area of the politics of reproduction will be covered, as well as trends and shifts in affirmative action programs. The course will also address generational changes concerning women in public office and labor union activity.
