Botany Minor Requirements

Required Courses in the minor:

BIO 1001	Principles of Biology I	4
BIO 2010	Foundations of Ecology	3
BIO 3055	Plant Biology	4

At least 2 or more of the following

BIO 1008	Therapeutic Horticulture	3
BIO 2011	MEDICINAL BOTANY	3
BIO 3046	Botany Systematics & Taxonomy	4

 

One of the following or an additional botany elective

BIO 1002	Principles of Biology II	4
BIO 2056	Environmental Ecology	3
BIO 2060	Introduction to Conservation Biology	3
BIO 2061	Biochemistry I	3
	OR
BIO 3061	Biochemistry I	4
BIO 4495	Independent Study	1-4
CHM 1001	Principles of Chemistry I	3
CHM 1003	Principles of Chemistry Lab I	1
CHM 3020	Medicinal Chemistry	3

 

BIO 1001, BIO 1002: completed with a minimum grade of C (or evidence of high achievement in equivalent course work) are prerequisites for all biology courses above the 2000 level. If a C - or below is received in either class, it must be retaken and passed with a minimum grade of C before students can progress to the 3000-level electives.

CHM 1001, CHM 1003: completed with a minimum grade of C- are prerequisites for all biology courses above the 2000 level.

Prospective botany minors interested in enrolling in Principles of Biology I or II also need to complete the Biology Placement Exam, which is an online exam located on Blackboard.
