IDS.1002 Thinking Well: Information Literacy, Inquiry, and Data Interpretation Skills

This course introduces students to different types and evaluation of information. Students will learn to identify, evaluate, and extract useful information from a wide range of media including scholarly resources, print and media-based journalism, and social media. In addition to evaluating sources for validity and point of view, this course will introduce students to data interpretation and basic statistical techniques as critical components of information literacy. Finally, this course will explore the ethical implications of using information/data for decision making.
