MVL.2005 Study Abroad Experience

This course is designed to help students clarify the purpose, meaning, and direction of short or long-term study abroad. It is designed to help the student better understand and reflect upon their experience in the host culture. The course will examine theoretical aspects of interacting with other cultures and methods of learning, as well as providing practical exercises in which students will observe, document, research and reflect on their experience abroad. Students will be asked to reflect on topics such as: travel and exploration while abroad; one's academics and education abroad; exploration of the host culture's food, language, politics, gender relations, religion, etc. In successfully completing this course, students will have fulfilled the General Education Experiential Learning requirement.
