BIO.2073 Human Genetics

This course is designed to provide nursing and other health professional students with a qualitative introduction to the field of genetics. This one semester course will focus on the basic principles of genetics, such as the role of DNA and RNA in gene expression and protein synthesis, Mendelian genetics, the role of genetics in animal development, population and evolutionary genetics, and genetics in healthcare. The lectures will leave the student with an operational knowledge of modern day genetics, an ability to communicate the material in a scientific manner an help them prepare for the NCLEX. This course is not intended for Biology Majors/ Minors and will not complete major/ minor requirements.
