PHL.3000 Plato

Plato (427-347 B.C.E.) is the greatest literary talent in the history of philosophy. Both through perception and misperception of his writings, Plato's influence on subsequent philosophy remains unsurpassed. The primary aim of this course is to introduce students to Plato's dialogues, and to provide a foundation for a lifetime of independent study of Plato. There is perhaps no better way to begin one's personal study of philosophy than with Plato's writings.
