Admissions
Please review school specific pages for more detailed information on admissions requirements.
- Deadlines: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Priority deadlines may be set for school specific programs that reach seat capacity.
- Once an applicant submits a completed application and all required supporting material, it will be reviewed for decision.
- Incomplete applications may remain in progress up to the end of the add/drop period for their chosen term, after which time they will be closed.
- Admissions Decisions
- Full acceptance
- Provisional acceptance:
- A provisionally accepted student may register for courses and begin the program at the same time as a fully accepted student. This policy will differ by school.
- Students must fulfill particular conditions of acceptance outlined in acceptance letter before the start date of classes.
- Rejection: may be eligible to re-apply. (See below, “Reapplications”)
- Waitlist on Acceptance
- Applicants with lower than a 3.0 undergraduate grade point average (GPA) will be placed on our waitlist.
- For our School of Education, New York State law limits the percentage of students in this category who can be offered admission.
- The admissions committee will review the waitlist monthly and offer conditional acceptances to otherwise qualified applicants.
- Applicants in this category are encouraged to highlight all relevant experience in their application materials.
- Applicants in this category are encouraged to apply especially early.
- Applicants may be asked to submit additional materials.
- Waitlist on Enrolling
- Some of our programs may be at full capacity for seats. If this is the case, you may be accepted but waitlisted until a spot becomes available and is not guaranteed for that particular term.
- Deferments
- Accepted students may defer enrollment up to one calendar year, after which time the application will be withdrawn.
- In order to confirm your deferment, you must submit the enrollment deposit and notify Graduate Admissions.
- Applicants with closed or withdrawn applications are required to re-apply. (See below, “Reapplications").
- Reapplications
- Applicants with Incomplete Closed Applications and Accepted Students with Withdrawn Applications
- May reapply to a future semester.
- If reapplication is within one calendar year from the application close or withdrawal date, all previously submitted materials may be re-used.
- updated transcripts are required for any coursework completed after your previous application.
- If the reapplication is outside of one calendar year, applicants may not re-use any previously submitted materials, unless the Office of Graduate Admissions allows on a case-by-case basis.
- Denied Acceptance
- Must follow the reapplication process outlined above if they wish to be considered in the future. (See above, “Reapplications”).
Application requirements and deadlines may be subject to change within each of our Graduate Schools.
