SAS Graduate Admissions Requirements

Students may apply to Manhattanville Graduate Admissions by completing the Manhattanville Application.

To be eligible for our graduate programs, you must have received or be in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (additional requirements for international students), and meet other program-specific requirements, as applicable. Your bachelor’s degree must be complete before you can take graduate courses. 

Along with Your Completed Application, Please Submit the Following:

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

*Undergraduate Grade Point Average 
For our certification programs in our School of Education, New York State law requires an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher for programs leading to New York State certification or license, with a limited number of exceptions possible. Applicants with an undergraduate GPA below 3.0 will be placed onto a waitlist. The admissions committee will review the waitlist periodically and offer conditional acceptances to otherwise qualified applicants. These students are particularly encouraged to apply early.

Personal Statement/Essay 

Stating why you are in pursuit of a graduate degree.

Letters of Recommendation

This may be optional for some programs and/or if your GPA falls below the required 3.0.

Non-refundable application fee of $75.00.

 

Additional Program Information:

 

For MFA applicants:

  • A 2 -3 page typewritten autobiographical essay describing your educational and career experiences. The essay should be creative and reflective in nature and be responsive to the following questions:
    • How and why did you decide to pursue this program?
    • How can this program further your personal and/or professional goals?
    • What special abilities, personal qualities, and life experiences do you bring to the program?
  • A 30 page sample of your writing. A combination of genres in the writing samples is acceptable (poetry, personal essay, short story, novel excerpt, script excerpt, etc.)
  • One letter of recommendation (two is preferred).

For Biomed applicants:

  • Bachelor's degree must be in a related field- BA/ BS in Biology, the Life Sciences, or a related field (e.g.- biochemistry, environmental science, chemistry, physics, etc.), or completion of the standard pre-health requirements (Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics).

For Computer Science applicants:

  • A completed undergraduate degree (BA or BS) from an accredited institution in a related field (e.g., computer science, data science, cybersecurity, mathematics, cryptography) or previous coursework in computer programming I and II
