SPRT.3015 Sport and Social Change

Sport both reflects and impacts society, providing a complex window into historical, social, political, and cultural issues far beyond the score of a game. Too often hailed as an institution of social progress, sport is a complicated space in terms race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and nation. This course explores the intersectional influences of sporting cultures in society, introducing students to key debates around social change, identity, and politics.
