Psychology

Introduction & Overview 

Psychology majors study the science of human behavior and mental processes, focusing on areas that include social, cognitive, abnormal, personality, and developmental psychology.  Through the process of inquiry in coursework, independent research, internships, and working alongside faculty scholars, students will use curiosity, creativity and critical thinking to frame questions, perform research, and solve problems. This skills-based major helps students develop a greater understanding of people, including themselves, and develops writing, research, and analytical skills, which makes it customizable in order to support many career paths, including graduate-level programs in psychology, law, medicine, business, and education, as well as jobs in civil service, teaching, communications, human resources, and mental health services.
