EDU.5576 Contrastive Grammar for Languages Other Than English (LOTE) Teachers
This course reviews in depth those morphological and syntactic systems (both structural and functional) of selected Languages Other Than English that have proven over time to be the most difficult for Second Language Learners, using a combination of pedagogical-traditional and linguistic-scientific grammars. Students will also briefly survey myths and realities of dialect in their selected LOTE along with topics in language pragmatics (including politeness, style shifting, slang, and discourse organization).
