Art

Students pursuing a B.A. in Art must have a minimum of 90 liberal arts credits. Art courses (ART) do not count as liberal arts. Students are encouraged to work with their advisor(s) to ensure that non-ART courses taken in fulfillment of degree requirements will count towards liberal arts.

All courses for the major must receive letter-grade evaluations of at least C.

Art Digital Image Requirements

All art majors are required to submit digital images of their artworks as a part of their Art Portfolio requirement. This is done throughout the junior and senior years so that both the students and the Art faculty can have a comprehensive chronology of their aesthetic productions while at Manhattanville College. The students’ digital images will also act as the inaugural elements in building a professional portfolio for a post-college art career. As part of the Junior Review (ART 3997), students will show a body of work. This should be part of the student’s digital images. In senior year, students will take Senior Project (ART 3998), which includes an exhibition of their art works, which also contributes to their Portfolio. By the spring of their senior year, students are required to submit 20 quality images.
