Student Learning Outcomes

Students majoring in Criminal Law are expected to develop:

1. An understanding of the fundamentals and details of the American legal and criminal justice system.
2. An ability to read, understand, and analyze difficult legal material including statutes and cases and other materials relevant to the discipline.
3. A capacity to write briefs, advocacy papers, and essays, as well as to engage in oral arguments and mock trials.
4. A sophisticated awareness of the relation between the study of criminal justice and law and other disciplines such as philosophy, sociology, psychology, ethics, and politics.
