MSBM.5200 Sports, Television, and Media

This graduate level course examines the many facets of the business of sports-related media including broadcast television, cable, satellite TV, print, radio, social media and internet-based platforms, the business models that each of these types of media use, the challenges to such models and the changes that are likely in the future. Students will explore the impact of such media on sports presentation and development, professional franchises, colleges and conferences and the consumer. This course is also designed to provide students with a basic understanding of how sports media operates as both a business generating revenue and content, and as a provider and disseminator of information and critique.
